ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ray K. Hodge is a native of Kenly, NC, and is a retired Baptist pastor. He was an Associate Director of the Seminary Extension Department of the Southern Baptist seminaries, and during graduate study at Southeastern Seminary taught Church Administration. He is a trustee Emeritus of Wake Forest University, and served as a trustee of Meredith College, as Vice Chairman of the Biblical Recorder Board of Directors, and as the chairman of the Campbell University Board of Ministers.

After World War II service in the Army Air Corps, he graduated from Mars Hill College, Wake Forest University, and earned two degrees from Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He is a graduate of the U. S. Army Chaplain School and the U. S. Army Command and General Staff College. A retired Colonel, AUS, he served in the North Carolina Army National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserve for thirty-two years.

He has been active in Baptist Associations and Conventions, serving on Committees and as President of the North Carolina Convention's General Board. He wrote the Sunday School lesson commentary in the Biblical Recorder for nineteen years, contributed articles to religious publications and newspapers, published eleven books, and for twelve years has written a monthly column for the Smithfield Herald. He is a member and Past President of the Smithfield Rotary Club.

Ray is married to the former Joyce Lorine Harrell of Edenton and they have three married children and six grandchildren. Ray and Joyce have traveled in all fifty states, and in Canada, Central America, the Middle East, the British Isles and in Western and Eastern Europe. They live in Smithfield, and are members of the First Baptist Church.
